By John G. Cooper

The Racing Drivers' Association of S.A. Annual Presentation Ball is always a swinging turn that is held each year in the month of May. The Speedway Sportsman of the year is always announced at the Ball and this year as you have already seen in the June issue; was Bill Wigzell.

Outstanding Club member trophy was presented by Assistant Secretary David Johnson to Tom Byers, the club's worthy Treasurer, better known as Uncle Tom. No matter what time you go into the Beulah Park clubrooms Tom is always there organising one little job or another.

The most improved driver awards:
Speed cars- Peter Maltby.
Super Modified- Ray Baker.
Production Stocks-Norm Moore.
Three Quarters-Ian Gear.
Highest Aggregate points over Virginia 1969 and Rowley Park 1969-70:
Speedcars-Bill Curnow.
Super Modified- Bill Wigzell.
Production Stocks-Ian Jones.
Three Quarters- V iv. Wilks.
Bowden Ford $100 for Production Stocks: John Fielder.
Coca Cola-Production Stocks, was one that yours truly had much pleasure in handing over to Ian Jones. John Blyfield of Disco Sales (who handle Wynns) gave trophies to Bill Wigzell, Phil Herreen, Dennis Freeman, Norm. Moore; all for outstanding performances.

The Burns for Blinds $500 for speedcar "stars" scratch events, went to Joe Braendler, who also won the Rowley Park 100 lap speedcar event for his second year straight.
The Super Modified section have a special award in a great big wooden spoon and this can go to either a driver or a mechanic. Over the last three years the award has gone to; Richie Summers (who is now the President of the N.T. Riders and Drivers' Association). The next year Alan Pike took it out. (He was Richie's mechanic). Last year John G. Cooper (you are right it was me. I was on Zeke Agar's team),
This year I had the pleasure of presenting the spoon to one of the nicest guys in Speedway, Phil Herreen. Australian Speedway World Vol. 1 No 7 July 1970 30 cents Pg 35
