The engine is a Rocket block of 412 cubes fitted with
a top fuel spec crank and rods suitable for supercharging later
on in the development. At the moment the engine is fitted with 2 six-barrel 1085 cfm SmartCarby's. SmartCarby are developing large cfm Dominator replacement 4-barrels. When these are ready we will install them. These will be easy to vary the cfm from 750 up to 1500 cfm. and will include all of the unique features of a SmartCarby. We expect the engine to make more power by optimising the cfm. See www.smartcarby.com

The ignition is a billet MSD distributor. This distributor
has a large cap and indexable rotor for all the right features needed.
The timing is controlled by a crank triggered MSD ignition controller
with a map sensor. It allows full ignition curve control with features
designed especially for drag racing. The spark energy is supplied by
a MSD 10-plus for kick-ass reliability of ignition. It draws 25 amp
primary current at 16 volts and is 2 ignition type systems in one. The
spark is initially a transistor inductive pattern switching to capacitor
discharge for the multiple spark phase of the arc. This ignition is
very powerful and is optimum for petrol or alcohol fuels.

The heads are GM SB2's, which are a proven performance
design. The cam has large 2.5" roller bearing journals and drives roller
lifters. The cam is driven by a Jessel externally adjustable timing
belt drive. The firing order has been changed to 18736542 this moves
the two cylinders that fire next to one another to the front of the
block where the water is cooler and also moves the crankshaft harmonics
closer to the balancer.
